Falling Walls Lab
The Falling Walls Lab is a new challenging, inspiring and interdisciplinary format for young bright minds. It offers the opportunity to excellent young academics and professionals to present their breakthroughs in 3 minutes. A prestigious jury awards the best participants. The Final Falling Walls Lab on 8 November gathers the 100 most outstanding minds in Berlin. All winners from Austria, Germany and Switzerland will spend an inspiring day competing with candidates from an international field – among them the winners from other qualifying Labs worldwide. The participants of the Final Lab Berlin are awarded an A.T. Kearney Scholarship for the Falling Walls Conference (http://falling-walls.com/); accommodation is covered.
Master’s students, PhD candidates and young postdocs (up to 35 years) can apply.
Applications are now open for Labs in Zurich, Vienna, Cologne and Munich.

Ausschreibung des neuen Programmes zur Förderung ausländischer Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden in strukturierten Promotionsprogrammen
Bewerbungsfrist für Hochschulen ist der 30. Juni 2012.
Ziel des Programmes ist es, den Anteil ausländischer Doktoranden und Doktorandinnen in strukturierten Promotionsprogrammen deutscher Hochschulen zu erhöhen und Promotionsprogramme beim Aufbau von Forschungskooperationen mit Partnern im Ausland zu unterstützen. Zu diesem Zweck haben strukturierte Promotionsprogramme herausragender Qualität die Möglichkeit sich für bis zu vier DAAD-finanzierte Promotionsplätze zu bewerben, für die sie ausländische Kandidaten nominieren können.
Die Auswahl der Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden erfolgt in einem zweistufigen Verfahren. In einem ersten Schritt schreiben die Programme die Promotionsplätze öffentlich aus und nominieren geeignete Kandidatinnen und Kandidaten. Die endgültige Auswahl der Stipendiatinnen und Stipendiaten erfolgt dann in einem zweiten Schritt durch eine vom DAAD berufene Auswahlkommission. Die ausgewählten Doktorandinnen und Doktoranden
erhalten Stipendien mit einer Laufzeit von drei bzw. vier Jahren (Entwicklungs- und Schwellenländer).
Frühester Stipendienbeginn ist Frühjahr/Sommer 2013.
